Radu Jude is a celebrated Romanian director and screenwriter. He graduated in 2003 from the Media University of Bucharest and began his career as an assistant director on Amen. (2002) and The Death of Mr. Lazarescu (2005). His short film Lampa cu caciulă (2006) became the most awarded Romanian short ever, winning at major festivals including Sundance and San Francisco.

Jude’s feature debut The Happiest Girl in the World (2009) received the CICAE Prize at Berlinale and was selected for Cannes (ACID). His 2012 film Everybody in Our Family won the Heart of Sarajevo. In 2015, he earned the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlinale with Aferim!, cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s most original cinematic voices.
