Laura Citarella

Laura Citarella is one of South America’s most original and distinctive film voices. Born in La Plata, she graduated in film directing from the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires, where she now teaches and leads screenwriting workshops. In addition to writing and directing her own work, she is an acclaimed film producer with the renowned El Pampero Cine production company, and has also worked as an actor.

Citarella gained international recognition with her third feature, La mujer de los perros (2015), co-directed with VerĂ³nica LlinĂ¡s, which was selected for several major festivals including IFFR 2015. Her latest film, Trenque Lauquen (2022), further cemented her status and was selected for IFFR 2023.
