FIRST FILM OF 013IFF 25 ANNOUNCED / EERSTE FILM 013IFF 25 BEKEND

Our programmer Sam has spent the past few months watching hundreds of films at the film festivals in Rotterdam, Berlin, Turnhout, and Cannes. The goal: to see as many films as possible in order to curate an outstanding program for our very own International Film Festival. We are proud to announce the first film that will be screened during 013IFF: Bound in Heaven.

Bound in Heaven is a drama in which the main characters live each day as if it were their last. A spellbinding film with breathtaking cinematography, a powerful screenplay, and irresistible chemistry between the leads. It’s a story about passion, (desperate) hope, and mortality—one that lingers long after the credits roll.

Bound in Heaven was awarded the top prize at the Mooov Film Festival. An international jury — which included our own programmer Sam — named it Best Film of the festival. It also received the Youth Award from the festival’s young jury. In addition, it won the award for Best Cinematography at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.

Onze programmeur Sam heeft de afgelopen maanden honderden films gezien op de filmfestivals van Rotterdam, Berlijn, Turnhout en Cannes. Het doel: zo veel mogelijk films zien om een topprogramma samen te stellen voor ons eigen Internationale Filmfestival. Met trots presenteren wij de eerste film die tijdens het 013IFF te zien zal zijn: Bound in Heaven.

Bound in Heaven is een drama waarin de hoofdpersonages elke dag leven alsof het hun laatste is. Een betoverende film met adembenemend camerawerk, een krachtig scenario en een onweerstaanbare chemie tussen de hoofdpersonages. Het is een verhaal over passie, (wan)hoop en sterfelijkheid, dat langdurig blijft nazinderen.

Bound in Heaven werd op het Mooov Filmfestival bekroond met de grootste prijs. De film werd door een internationale jury — waar ook onze programmeur Sam deel van uitmaakte — uitgeroepen tot de beste film van het festival. De film kreeg op datzelfde festival de Youth Award van de jongerenjury. Daarnaast won de film de prijs voor Beste Cinematografie op het San Sebastián International Film Festival.
