Along a forgotten road, the O’Reilly family lives in a run-down mobile home. Patrick, Lisa and their ten children brave the changing seasons in their tin castle, holding on to a way of life that is slowly disappearing. When they face eviction, their existence comes under even greater pressure. Yet they remain determined to preserve their traditions and refuse to simply give in. The children laugh, the dogs bark, the caravan still stands — but for how much longer?
Director Alexander Murphy followed the O’Reilly family for nearly six years. During that time, he built a close relationship of trust with the family, allowing him to capture not only their everyday lives but also deeply personal moments. The documentary Tin Castle received a Special Jury Mention at the Cannes Film Festival.
