Víctor Erice
Born in the Basque Country in 1940, Víctor Erice is one of Europe’s most remarkable filmmakers. His first film, The Spirit of the Beehive (1973), won First Prize at the San Sebastián Film Festival and enjoyed great success with international critics and audiences. This was followed by The South (1983), presented in the Official Selection at Cannes, and The Quince Tree Sun (1992), made in collaboration with the artist Antonio Lopez, which won the Jury Prize and the FIPRESCI Prize at Cannes. Over the last 30 years, Erice has dedicated himself to a variety of collective projects, making short films and documentaries.

Lotfi Achour
Lotfi Achour is a Tunisian actor, writer, producer and film and theater director. He has written more than 25 theater productions on different stages in Carthage, Paris, Avignon, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt. Achour studied at the Sorbonne and trained in documentary filmmaking at the Varan workshops in Paris. He directed four highly-acclaimed short films, including Law Of The Lamb that screened at the official competition of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and competed for the 2017 Oscars.

Radu Jude
Radu Jude is a celebrated Romanian director and screenwriter. He graduated in 2003 from the Media University of Bucharest and began his career as an assistant director on Amen. (2002) and The Death of Mr. Lazarescu (2005). His short film Lampa cu caciulă (2006) became the most awarded Romanian short ever, winning at major festivals including Sundance and San Francisco.
Jude’s feature debut The Happiest Girl in the World (2009) received the CICAE Prize at Berlinale and was selected for Cannes (ACID). His 2012 film Everybody in Our Family won the Heart of Sarajevo. In 2015, he earned the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlinale with Aferim!, cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s most original cinematic voices.

Huo Xin
Huo Xin graduated from the Department of Drama at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing. A screenwriter and director, she has written or co-written scripts for films including Zhang Yang’s Shower (1999), Stephen Chow’s Kung Fu Hustle (2004), Zhang’s Full Circle (2012), and Gao Qunshu’s Crimes of Passion (2013.) Bound in Heaven represents her directorial debut.
