Ons beeld van de Holocaust wordt sterk gevormd door de vele fictiefilms die erover zijn gemaakt. Holofiction is een essayfilm, opgebouwd uit duizenden filmfragmenten. Door deze op een nieuwe manier te monteren, onthult de film terugkerende patronen en laat hij zien hoe deze beelden onze herinnering aan en ons begrip van de geschiedenis hebben gevormd.
Michal Kosakowski
Michal Kosakowski is a Polish-German filmmaker and media artist whose work blends documentary, fiction and experimental cinema. A graduate of Fabrica – the Benetton Research Center for Communication in Italy – he gained recognition with Just Like the Movies (2006), winner of Best Short Film at the Milano Film Festival. His work includes the award-winning documentary Zero Killed (2012), the horror anthology German Angst (2015) and his latest multimedia project Holofiction (2025), part of the Dark Tourism series exploring contemporary Holocaust remembrance.
Moscas
Moscas, een Mexicaans drama over een onverwachte ontmoeting tussen drie mensen die noodgedwongen samen een huis delen. De film was een van de grote verrassingen van het Filmfestival van Berlijn 2026 en is ondanks internationale erkenning nog niet in Nederland uitgebracht.
Fernando Eimbcke
Fernando Eimbcke is one of the leading voices in contemporary Mexican cinema. Following his acclaimed debut Duck Season (2004), which won 11 Ariel Awards, he achieved international recognition with Lake Tahoe (2008), which received the FIPRESCI Prize and the Alfred Bauer Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival. His films are known for their understated humour, minimalist storytelling, and poignant portraits of young people searching for their place in the world.
Rohan Parashuram Kanawade
Rohan comes from a humble background and grew up in a one-room home in a Mumbai slum, where he was raised by his father, a chauffeur, and his mother, a homemaker. Before becoming a filmmaker, he worked as an interior designer while exploring his passion for cinema on the side. Without any formal film education, he created this semi-autobiographical work, which went on to premiere in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival.
Cactus Pears
Na het overlijden van zijn vader keert Anand terug naar zijn geboortedorp voor de traditionele tiendaagse rouwperiode. Daar ontmoet hij zijn jeugdvriend Balya, met wie een tedere liefde opbloeit, terwijl beiden worstelen met de verwachtingen van hun familie.
Fjord
Een vroom Roemeens-Noors gezin verhuist naar een dorp in een afgelegen fjord, waar ze een hechte band opbouwen met hun buren. Wanneer hun tienerdochter Elia met blauwe plekken op school verschijnt, zet de gemeenschap vraagtekens bij de traditionele opvoeding van het stel. Fjord werd op het Filmfestival van Cannes bekroond met de Gouden Palm.
Christian Mungiu
Cristian Mungiu (1968) is one of Romania’s most acclaimed filmmakers. After studying English Literature, he trained at the Film and Theatre Academy in Bucharest and made several short films before debuting with Occident (2002). His international breakthrough came with 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2007. Since then, he has returned to Cannes with films including Beyond the Hills (Best Screenplay and Best Actresses, 2012) and Graduation (Best Director, 2016). He also served on the Cannes jury in 2013.
